Curse of the China Doll

Fine and delicate
The China Doll
In her dance
And in her life
A beauty seen
But never felt
An object
Pristine and pure
The gentleman's gaze
Ever lightly cast
Upon features formed
Of alabaster life
Small and fair
Placed upon the stage
To dance the dreams
Of childhood and love
As princess or spirit
Or light-hearted girl
A vision of
Beauty and grace
After curtain's fall
And lights fade
The curse remains
For the China Doll
To be in life
As on the stage
The fragile beauty
Of adoration
Never touched as woman
Only seen as art
Too delicate for life
Too fragile for love
Never tasting a kiss
Nor lover's caress
Upon china made of flesh
Doomed in life
To play the part
Of the delicate China Doll.
